Hand dyed each skein is uniquely different.
I always use professional quality acid dyes. 
I always recommend hand-washing to preserve the life of your garment. There may be a small amount of dye bleeding in the first few washes, but this will not affect the color of your yarn. 
Each skein is hand dyed in small batches of 2-4, which makes each one vary from skein to skein. I suggest that you alternate skeins every few rows when doing a project that requires multiple skeins.
